Seton Academy is a Connecticut state approved non-public special educational program integrated with group and individual therapy, serving the needs of adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18 with emotional, psychological, or behavioral difficulties who have been unsuccessful in their home school settings. The school is located at 47 Long Lots Road in Westport, CT.

The goal of Seton Academy is to reintegrate students with their community schools.  The program offers academic and therapeutic supports that are tailored to the needs of the student. These supports include the evaluation of existing assessments, the identification of treatment and counseling needs, guidance in connecting with outside support services for the continuance of care, assistance in mastering various skills necessary for appropriate social behavior and peer interactions, and the implementation of an educational program based on IEP goals and objectives.

Each applicant participates in a screening and comprehensive evaluation. The student plays an active role in developing personal goals to be achieved while he/she is enrolled in Seton Academy. In addition, clinical staff evaluates the student's previous school placements, determine the reasons for past failures, and develop a program to address the behavioral and emotional difficulties that have interfered with school success. The plan is implemented and reassessed regularly until goals are met.

Once goals have been achieved, the student maybe ready to reintegrate into a community school setting. Seton Academy recognizes that reintegration into the community school setting may not always be possible, in which case, students may remain at Seton Academy through graduation or every effort is made to assist families in identifying a school program which will enable the student to maximize his/her potential.
