Small class instruction - Identification of underlying factors that interfere with student success
- Middle and high school course work in the core curricular areas
- CT certified special education teachers
The school provides middle and high school course work in the core curricular areas. Teachers are Connecticut certified in special education. Classroom instruction is based on the Connecticut Framework K-12 Curricular Goals and Standards and is departmentalized by subject area: English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Secondary school credit is awarded by the districts for the successful completion of course work at Seton Academy. The educational approach is unique in that the teaching staff is able to determine the academic needs of each student and, through small group instruction, address the underlying factors that prevent him/her from succeeding. Classroom size and milieu are purposely designed to serve a small number of students, with clinical support staff available throughout the academic day. Assistance with class work and homework is provided by teachers and paraprofessionals. |
